Plumbing prices vary more than AC prices, because the same symptom can be an SAR 80 washer or an SAR 800 buried pipe. The honest way to price a plumbing job is a visit, a diagnosis you can see, and a written quote. You should still know the normal range before anyone rings the bell.

- Access. A pipe behind tiles or under a marble floor costs more to reach than the repair itself.
- Pipe type. Older galvanised steel corrodes and can snap when disturbed; PPR repairs are quicker and cheaper.
- Parts. The same kind of mixer ranges from about SAR 120 to more than SAR 900.
- Timing. Nights, Fridays and public holidays carry a surcharge, which should be stated before anyone is sent.
What a proper quote shows
- The fault that was found, and how it was confirmed — a meter reading, a dye test, a pressure gauge.
- Labour and parts on separate lines, with the brand of every part.
- Whether anything will be opened, and how it will be closed and finished.
- The warranty on the work. Ours is 90 days on workmanship.
Where plumbing prices inflate for no reason
- “Pipe replacement” quoted for a drip that turns out to be a worn mixer cartridge.
- Tiles broken to “look for” a leak instead of locating it first.
- A booster pump replaced when only the pressure switch or check valve had failed.
- A visit fee charged on arrival and then charged again inside the repair price.
Frequently asked questions
How much does a plumber charge for a visit in Riyadh?
Most companies charge a visit and diagnosis fee of about SAR 100 – 200, and it is usually deducted if you approve the repair. Be careful with very low visit fees that are recovered later inside an inflated repair price.
Is repairing a leak more expensive than finding it?
Often not. Detection is a fixed fee; the repair depends on where the pipe runs. Locating the exact point first means only 30 – 40 cm of floor is opened, which usually makes the total cheaper.
Should I buy the parts myself?
You can, but confirm the model with the plumber first. A cartridge or flush valve that does not fit costs you a second visit.
